Associate Director, Compliance and Privacy EMEA

As a result of the rapid growth of a global publicly-traded, commercial-stage Pharma company a Legal Counsel and an Associate Director, Compliance and Privacy role are newly created. Both positions will be based at the company’s EMEA HQ based in the Zurich Area.
If you can draw on your experience in both areas of Healthcare Compliance and Privacy this will be definitely an exciting time to join this US-based Pharma company and support the EMEA business region. You will be responsible to roll out the healthcare compliance and privacy programs in the EMEA region in collaboration with the EMEA Legal Counsel and your colleagues based in the US.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide guidance related to compliance and privacy issues in conjunction with EMEA counsel
- Develop and implement regional compliance and privacy policies applicable to local laws regulations
- Conduct annual healthcare compliance and privacy risk assessments to prioritize and implement compliance and privacy controls for the year
- Conduct live and transactional monitoring in accordance with compliance and privacy risks identified in the risk assessment
- Liaise with internal and external auditors to assist with relatable audits
- Conduct new hire and subject matter specific training related to compliance and privacy topics for EMEA employees
- Prepare compliance communications for the EMEA business (emails, newsletter, etc.) to raise awareness about compliance and privacy issues
- Respond to, investigate and remediate compliance/privacy-related reports (data breach, policy violation) made via the Integrity Hotline, employee or items identified by Compliance
- Reporting/Investigating/Corrective Action related to EMEA business
- Review and approve EMEA HCP fee for service engagements to GDPR requirements related to employee and patient data privacy
- Participate in other review committees as applicable (e.g., Grant Review Committee, Charitable Review Committee)
- Assist the Compliance and Privacy Department with projects as is necessary and act as a liaison on certain high priority cross-functional projects
Key Qualifications
- University degree required
- At least 8 years relevant work experience, at least a portion of which was spent in-house in a medical device or pharmaceutical company
- Proven work experience as either a healthcare compliance and/or privacy professional required; both areas of expertise strongly preferred
- Fluent in English, German a benefit
- Understanding of relevant compliance and privacy laws and rules (e.g., GDPR, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, local bribery statute and promotional rules, MedTech Europe and other regional codes)
- Excellent analytical skills, with demonstrated ability to analyze compliance/privacy issues and advise accordingly
- Excellent interpersonal skills, a commitment to professionalism, integrity and collegiality and the ability to work on a wide range of regulatory/compliance matters
- Initiative to address problems and make continuous process improvements
- Flexibility with regard to changing job duties
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, mostly within Europe
